Cookie Policy
Skill-to-Cash uses only strictly necessary cookies — no advertising, analytics, or tracking.
Overview
This Cookie Policy explains how Skill-to-Cash uses cookies and similar technologies when you access or use the Skill-to-Cash website and web application.
Skill-to-Cash currently uses cookies and similar technologies only as necessary to provide core functionality such as authentication, session management, account security, fraud prevention, and related platform operations.
We do not currently use advertising cookies, behavioral advertising cookies, or third-party marketing cookies, and we do not use cookie data for cross-site advertising or marketing profiling.
What cookies are
Cookies are small data files stored by your browser that allow a website or web application to recognize your browser or device and maintain information between requests or visits. Cookies can be temporary, such as session cookies, or persistent for a defined period.
Strictly necessary cookies
Skill-to-Cash uses strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies that are required for the platform to function securely and as requested by the user.
These technologies may be used for purposes such as:
- authenticating users and maintaining signed-in sessions;
- processing one-time authentication or verification workflows;
- protecting accounts against unauthorized access;
- recognizing previously used browsers or devices for security purposes;
- enforcing session, device, or account-security controls;
- preventing fraud, abuse, and circumvention of platform restrictions;
- maintaining secure application state necessary to provide requested functionality.
How these cookies are secured
Where applicable, these cookies are configured using appropriate security protections, such as HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite attributes, depending on the cookie's purpose and technical requirements.
Under UK cookie rules, cookies that are genuinely essential to provide a service requested by the user can qualify for the strictly necessary exemption from prior consent, although users should still be informed about them.
Cookies currently used
The cookie names and durations below reflect what Skill-to-Cash actually uses in production.
- stc_session — maintains an authenticated user session and allows the user to remain signed in. Typical duration: up to 30 days, or earlier upon logout/session invalidation.
- stc_device — supports account and device security, including recognized-device controls and suspicious-activity detection. Typical duration: up to 1 year.
- stc_otp — supports a short-lived one-time authentication or verification flow. Typical duration: up to 15 minutes.
First-party and third-party technologies
Skill-to-Cash intends to limit cookies used by the application to first-party, strictly necessary technologies.
However, Skill-to-Cash may use third-party service providers to operate infrastructure, authentication, payment processing, hosting, fraud prevention, or other platform functions.
Those providers may process technical information or use technologies necessary to deliver their services.
Skill-to-Cash does not permit third-party cookies to be used for advertising or cross-site behavioral marketing unless this policy and any required consent mechanisms are updated beforehand.
No advertising or behavioral tracking cookies
Skill-to-Cash does not currently use cookies for:
- targeted or behavioral advertising;
- cross-site advertising;
- advertising retargeting;
- third-party marketing profiles;
- selling or sharing cookie-derived data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Updates if tracking technologies are added
If Skill-to-Cash later introduces analytics, advertising, personalization, or other non-essential tracking technologies, this Cookie Policy and, where legally required, the consent mechanism will be updated before those technologies are deployed.
Analytics
Skill-to-Cash does not currently use non-essential analytics cookies.
If privacy-preserving or cookie-based analytics are introduced in the future, they must be reviewed to determine whether notice, consent, opt-out, or other privacy controls are required before deployment.
Your choices
Most browsers allow you to view, delete, restrict, or block cookies.
Because Skill-to-Cash currently uses cookies necessary for authentication and security, blocking or deleting certain cookies may prevent you from:
- remaining signed in;
- completing authentication;
- accessing your account;
- using security-sensitive portions of the platform;
- maintaining recognized-device or session settings.
After you delete a cookie
Deleting a cookie may also require you to authenticate again.
Browser settings do not necessarily prevent all forms of local storage or other similar technologies.
Cookie consent
Because Skill-to-Cash currently intends to use only cookies that are strictly necessary to provide the requested service and maintain security, the platform may not require an opt-in marketing-cookie banner solely for those cookies in jurisdictions that recognize a strictly necessary exemption.
However, applicable requirements vary by jurisdiction.
If Skill-to-Cash adds non-essential analytics, advertising, personalization, or tracking technologies, the platform must reassess whether prior consent, opt-out controls, preference signals, or a cookie-management interface is required.
The UK ICO, for example, states that consent is generally required for cookies that are not strictly necessary, while essential security and service-delivery cookies may qualify for an exemption.
Security
Authentication and security cookies should be configured using protections appropriate to their purpose.
Where technically appropriate, Skill-to-Cash uses safeguards such as:
- Secure transmission over HTTPS;
- HttpOnly protection against client-side script access;
- appropriate SameSite restrictions;
- limited expiration periods;
- server-side session validation;
- session revocation and logout controls.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when our technology, service providers, security controls, or legal obligations change.
If we introduce materially different cookie or tracking practices, we will update this policy and provide any additional notice or consent mechanism required by applicable law.
The "Last Updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
